Latency When Accessing Store and Checkout Pages

Some Yahoo! Merchant Solutions customers may be experiencing slow loading times for their store and checkout pages.

Our engineers are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Information regarding service interruptions on October 24, 2009

On October 24, 2009, we experienced short service interruptions that were noted here on our system status page. These affected, at different intervals, page-serving and add-to-cart functionality for some visitors to Yahoo! Merchant Solutions and Yahoo! Store sites. As a result of this short service interruption, some merchants were also unable to access their Store Manager for a period of time. We would like to take this opportunity to apologize for these interruptions, and to provide you with information on their root cause.

After investigating, we’ve found that these interruptions occurred due to an unexpected power surge and subsequent power outage in one of our data centers. Our primary backup power supply was also affected by this power surge. The secondary backup source took over after a short delay.

Once traffic was routed to an unaffected data center, this issue was resolved. However, as a result of the unexpected power surge, a small number of sites using the database inventory feature continued to experience add-to-cart latency. These issues were isolated to a very small number of servers.

We are continuing to investigate this issue, and are putting measures in place to prevent future occurrences. We would like to reassure you that throughout the year, holiday performance preparation and testing has been and will continue to be a top priority. Along with the ability to route traffic to and serve pages from multiple data centers, as occurred on October 24, we’ve also made significant order and basket server improvements to increase order-handling capacity, and software upgrades to strengthen system performance.

GeoCities Plus customers unable to upgrade to Web Hosting

Some Yahoo! GeoCities Plus customers have reported an “Order Canceled” error when they try to upgrade to Yahoo! Web Hosting.

If you are a Yahoo! GeoCities Plus customer and encounter this issue when trying to upgrade, please do not contact our sales team using the phone number in the error message. Instead please contact us immediately by returning to geocities.yahoo.com and clicking the Contact us anytime link.

Please be sure to include your contact information and the following:

  1. Yahoo! ID:
  2. Domain to be used with the upgrade:
  3. Page before error URL:
  4. Error page URL:
  5. Error message:
  6. Date & Time of your attempt:
  7. Credit card type, last 4 of card number and expiration date

Revenue Statistics Not Updating

Some merchants may find that the revenue statistics provided in the “Statistics a a Glance” section of the Store Manager are not up to date. We are investigating this issue now. This is a display issue only.

Yahoo! Business Email maintenance on October 27 and 29

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Please note that we will be conducting essential maintenance on Yahoo! Business Email this week at the following times:

  • Tuesday, October 27, at 9:30 p.m. PT
  • Thursday, October 29, at 9:30 p.m. PT

If your Business Email account is affected, you will be unable to send or receive messages during one of these windows.

We expect each maintenance window to last approximately 3 hours, after which your email service will be restored. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Order Numbers Not Issued

Some shoppers may be seeing the following message upon completing an order:

Your order number is not currently available. Please contact us if you have questions about your order.”

We are investigating this issue now and will provide updates when available.

Intermittent Yahoo! Business Mail errors

Some Yahoo! Small Business customers may be experiencing a “timeout”, blank page or other errors when accessing their Yahoo! Business Mail.

We are aware of the issues and are working on a timely resolution.

Add to Cart Issues

Intermittent Business Mail Issues

Unable To Load Web Sites

Some Yahoo! Web Hosting and Merchant Solutions customers may experience “Failed to Connect” or “Site temporarily unavailable” error messages while trying to access their web sites.

We are aware of this issue and are working to resolve this problem in a timely manner.
