Business Email – Intermittent Issues Switching Accounts in Yahoo! Mail Classic

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Some Yahoo! Business Mail customers may experience intermittent issues switching to their Yahoo! Business Mail accounts in the Yahoo! Mail Classic interface.

While we work to resolve this issue, available workarounds are to:

* Access the Yahoo! Business Mail account directly by entering the “mail” subdomain for your Yahoo! Small Business account into the Address field of your browser window.
For example, if your domain was “mydomain.com” the address would read
http://mail.mydomain.com
* Switch your account to use the All New Yahoo! Mail interface.
* Remove the %galaxy%%timestamp%? in the address bar and hit return

We are actively working to resolve this issue in a timely manner.

Merchant Solutions system upgrade on July 29

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

On July 29 to early morning July 30, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. (PDT), we’ll be conducting upgrades to help improve system performance. Shoppers may be unable to use coupons or gift certificates when placing an order during this time. Store Manager will not be available during this time. Merchants should complete all store publishes before the upgrade begins. Publishes in-progress will be stopped, resulting in a partial content publish. FDMS batch submissions and site statistics reporting may be delayed until the following day. Merchants will not be able to change their domain name destination to redirect traffic (e.g., from their Store home page to their Web Hosting home page) during this time.

Please note: Merchants using the Database Inventory feature should set their "Quantity can Exceed Availability" setting to "Yes" for the upgrade period, or orders may not be accepted. Your inventory will automatically be updated to reflect new orders once the upgrades are complete. Orders received during this time should be checked against available item quantities to ensure the order can be filled.

To modify the "Quantity can Exceed Availability" setting:

  • In Store Manager, click on "Configure Inventory" (located in the Order Settings column).
  • In the Settings Section, change "Quantity can Exceed Availability" to "Yes".
  • Click the "Update" button.
  • Publish your Order Settings.

Following the upgrade, you may restore your original settings if needed, to prevent items from being ordered when they’re not in stock.

Merchants with domains managed outside of Yahoo! may experience periods of site unavailability, or delays in content serving, since Yahoo! cannot take steps to redirect traffic for these domains. In order to minimize any traffic loss, the following actions are recommended:

  • Set a permanent (301) redirect of all hostnames to your domain. To redirect hostnames, click on the "Domain Names" link in the Site Settings column of Store Manager, then enable the "Redirect all hostnames to my domain" checkbox.

  • Create a CNAME pointing to stores.yahoo.net. A CNAME applies to hostnames prefixed by www (e.g. www.domain.com).

  • Set the lowest TTL (time to live) allowed by your domain host. Since merchants with domains hosted outside of Yahoo! must manually point to the correct IP address during any outage, this allows A record changes to take effect as quickly as possible.

  • Ensure that your A records include both of the following IP addresses:

    216.252.126.190
    68.142.205.137

We apologize for any inconvenience.
