The service interruption was caused by a sophisticated DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack against a small number of merchants hosted on the Yahoo! Merchant Solutions platform. Upon recognition of the attack, we took immediate action to prevent continued impact to a broader population of Yahoo! Merchant Solutions accounts.
Please be assured that Yahoo! takes matters of system availability and performance very seriously. As we have previously stated, the Yahoo! Merchant Solutions team made significant investments over the past two years to ensure adequate operational capacity for the holiday season. We will continue to plan, test, and monitor our systems to ensure availability in the future.
