09:07 AM PST: Changes to FTP with regard to Yahoo Store and Yahoo Merchant Solutions

As of Tuesday, April 22, at 11:59 p.m. PT we will be transitioning to only supporting FTPS. By switching to using FTPS, Yahoo is making the transferring of content more secure. If you currently use FTP to update your catalog items and images, make sure that you have updated the settings in your FTP client before Tuesday, April 22, at 11:59 p.m. PT, at which time we will decommission the ability to use FTP to transfer files. If you have not updated your settings before the decommission of the FTP, you will not be able to establish a connection to update your catalog.

02:24 PM PST: Issues receiving mail from an email service provider to addresses

If email addressees are not receiving messages that have been sent via automated services such as mailing lists or groups, or you are receiving returned email stating that your messages have been rejected for policy reasons, you should use a business email address associated to your domain name as the sending address.  Due to recent changes to protect our users, sending from your “” address may no longer work.

Yahoo recently changed our DMARC policy to proactively protect our users from increasing email forgery spam.  This is an important step to secure our users’ email identities from being used by unauthorized senders.

For more information on these changes, please see this help page.

05:30 PM PST: Error accessing business email with a POP client

Some customers may be experiencing the following error when accessing their business email with a POP client (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Mac Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird):

  • The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server responded: problem retrieving message.

Please attempt to empty your Spam folder as a possible solution to this issue.  If this does not resolve your issue, please contact us for assistance.

03:56 PM PST: AT&T Yahoo Small Business accounts

The temporary reinstatement of all former AT&T Yahoo Small Business accounts has expired. If you wanted to keep your services, but didn’t take action in time, please click here. We’re cancelling accounts in a phased manner, and you may still be able to recover email and your site information.

If you’re a former AT&T Yahoo Small Business customer whose account was cancelled after January 31, 2014, please review the FAQ for details on the process, including the actions needed to transfer to Yahoo Small Business and recover your services.

AT&T Yahoo Small Business accounts became Yahoo Small Business accounts on August 6, 2013. To move these services and to keep them active, AT&T Yahoo Small Business account owners were required to accept a new Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before September 30, 2013, with an extension later given to complete these actions by November 22, 2013. Account owners using AT&T’s Billing Telephone Number (BTN) account payment option were also required to update their account payment method to a valid credit card or PayPal account by November 22, 2013. If you’re an AT&T Yahoo Small Business account owner, you should have received several email notices about this change between May 2013 and January 2014. If you are a Web Hosting or Merchant Solutions customer, you should have also received a letter to your last mailing address on record. A notice was also posted in your AT&T Yahoo Small Business account. These notices advised that if no action was taken to complete the required steps to move the account, your services were at risk to be cancelled.

If you’re a former AT&T Yahoo Small Business customer who has questions not answered by this update or the FAQ, you can contact us at 1-866-849-8298.

06:47 AM PST: Some users may be unable to access any web page or service within the domain

Some users are unable to access any web site within Yahoo. Symptoms include blank white pages, and time out or loading errors (404 or Not Found).

We are working to resolve it as quickly as possible.

10:11 AM PST

It seems this concern was one result of the larger issue with internet connectivity, largely based on the east coast of the United States.

If you are still experiencing concerns of this nature, we urge you to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for further troubleshooting.
